Profile Summary
Chair of the Master’s Degree in Public and Health Economics, Associate Professor of Economics, and Rector’s Delegate for Internationalization at the University of Molise, Principal Investigator of Instant Analytics.
He has consolidated expertise in Digital Methods, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Text Mining, and Impact Evaluations. Before joining the University of Molise, he was Research Fellow for SOSE S.p.A. (Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance), the Italian National Research Council (CNR), and the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Florence.
He has been Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics, ETH Zürich, the University of Portsmouth, the University of Sheffield, and the World Bank Headquarters. He obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from Roma Tre University and a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Florence. He has been an advisor at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), the European Commission — Joint Research Centre (JRC), and the European Investment Fund (EIF).
He has been part of the group of experts for the Department for Cohesion Policies at the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers. He is currently an advisor for the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), the European Commission — Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Conference of Italian Regions and autonomous Provinces, and IFEL Fondazione ANCI.
He has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications covering topics connected to Institutional Economics, Inequality, Sustainability, Health, and Education.

The special issue focuses on the transformative role of Internet technologies and Big Data in economic research. As new data sources—such as social media, geospatial information, mobile phone records, and search engine data—become increasingly relevant, economists are called to adopt advanced techniques like machine learning, large language models, sentiment analysis, and statistical learning.
The collection welcomes empirical and theoretical contributions that apply these methods to key areas including policy evaluation, economic forecasting, financial markets, labor dynamics, sustainability, and regional development, with a special focus on the European context.
Special attention will be given to interdisciplinary studies and to innovative approaches that address data gaps through tools like web scraping, crowdsourcing, and geospatial analytics. Submissions focused exclusively on technical aspects without clear economic relevance will not be considered.
